This year, in the middle of a pandemic, there was no September increase in the aged pension or the DSP and Carer’s payments. This is the first time in 25 years that these pensions have been frozen.
This will have a devastating impact on the households that rely on these crucial payments.
I know that pensioners are always financially prudent and many of them factored in a modest rise to their already stretched weekly budgets.
This cruel Morrison Government decision comes at a time when many pensioners are struggling due to Covid. Many of the essentials of life that pensioners rely on are increasing in price.
In the meantime, the Coalition Government has refused to actually detail what they’re going to do for pensioners. Prime Minister Morrison needs to come up with a plan for pensioners immediately to ensure that they don’t fall through the cracks.
